ITHACA
AREA ARTIST RECENTLY ADDED TWO PIECES TO MUSEUM COLLECTIONS

(Newfield, NY) Ceramic trompe l'oeil artist Eric Serritella recently added
a 2008 sculpture titled Overhead Handle Teapot to the Carnegie Art Museum
in Pittsburgh, PA. The piece was chosen along with 19 others from a private
collector who donated the works to the collection.
Serritella
also added a piece to the permanent collection of the Burchfield Penney
Art CenterThe Museum for Western New York Art at Buffalo State College.
The teapot, titled Reach for the Stars was purchased by an art patron
for the museum.

BIRCH VASE RECEIVES TOP HONORS IN NATIONAL EXHIBITION

Tompkins County artist Eric Serritella recently received the first place
award in the national Carved Vase Exhibition in Syracuse, NY. The
exhibition is held in two venues The Everson Museum of Art and
Clayscapes Gallery. Serritella's winning Paper Birch vase is on
exhibition at The Everson Museum. Serritella had two works selected for
inclusion in the show and the second entry, Reach for the Stars,
is on exhibition at Clayscapes Gallery.
The exhibition
features artists from around the country in honor of the 100th anniversary
of Adelaide Robineau's Scarab Vase, which is housed in the Everson
Museum's permanent collection. The Scarab Vase is considered one
of the most significant pieces of pottery from the 20th Century. Information

TROMPE L'OEIL BOOK TO APPEARS IN FIT TO BE BOUND EXHIBITION AT
THE EVERSON MUSEUM

(Syracuse, NY) Artist Eric Serritella will have a piece titled Book
of Trees in the Everson Museum's Fit to be Bound exhibition.
The exhibition dates are April 17 - July 11, 2010, with an opening reception
on April 29th from 5:30 - 8:30 PM. Fit to Be Bound is the second
exhibition in a series of four showcases a broad range of artist books
created by artists currently living in New York Statethe first survey
of its kind at the Everson. The exhibition will be an exploration of the
various means by which contemporary artists have expanded the notion of
the book form, from the traditional to the sculptural, from paper to mixed-media,
small-scale and oversized. Thirty-four artists from 12 counties are included

BIRCH TEAPOT AWARDED AT A ROCHESTER MUSEUM EXHIBITION

(Newfield, NY) Tompkins County artist Eric Serritella recently received
the top award at the Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition in Rochester, NY.
The Memorial Art Gallery's Award of Excellence went to the artist for
his piece titled Sassy Birch Teapot. Serritella had two works selected
for inclusion in the show. Considered the top exhibition of regional talent,
this year features 36 works by 28 artists selected from a field of 852
works by 445 artists. The exhibition runs from July 26 through October

innovators in AmericanStyle magazine's August 2009 Emerging
Artists issue. Serritella's ceramic trompe l'oeil teapot sculpture
is featured on the issue's cover and a second full-page teapot photo from
his acclaimed Birch Series is featured in the magazine's article.

TROMPE L'OEIL SCULPTURES SELECTED FOR THE 62nd ROCHESTER-FINGER LAKES
EXHIBITION

(Rochester, NY) Two ceramic trompe l'oeil sculptures by Ithaca-area artist
Eric Serritella have been selected to be included in the the 62nd Rochester-Finger
Lakes Exhibition at the Memorial Art Gallery at the University of Rochester.
This year 37 works by 28 artists were selected by the jurors from 852
entries from 445 artists. The exhibition will be on view at the museum
from July 26 - October 4, 2009.

TROMPE L'OEIL TREE TRUNKS WIN BEST OF SHOW AT ART FESTIVAL BETH EL

(St. Petersburg, FL) Ceramic trompe l'oeil sculpture by Ithaca-area artist
Eric Serritella received the Best of Show honors at the 36th Annual Art
Festival Beth El in St. Petersburg, FL. The award recognizes outstanding
creativity and workmanship. During the show a Sassy Birch trompe l'oeil
teapot was purchased and added to a significant private collection.

ARTIST RECEIVES SIGNIFICANT NATIONAL PRINT ATTENTION IN 2008

(Newfield, NY) During 2008 ceramic trompe l'oeil artist Eric Serritella's
work appeared in the Smithsonian's "James Renwick Alliance Quarterly"'
"Clay Times" magazine, "IC Point of View" magazine
(Ithaca College), "Rochester Magazine", and on the cover of
a new book published by the American Ceramics Society titled "Surface
Decoration: Finishing Techniques". In addition his ceramic trompe
l'oeil tree trunk birch teapots will appear in the "Potter's Council
Annual Calendar" and "NICHE" magazine early in 2009.

WINS ITHACA COLLEGE'S FIRST ANNUAL IC POINT OF VIEW NATIONAL COMPETITION

(Newfield, NY) Ithaca-area ceramic artist Eric Serritella was recently
awarded First Place in the Fine Arts Category in Ithaca College's IC
Point of View magazine's national Arts and Literature Contest. The
winning piece, titled Sassy Birch is a hand-carved trompe l'oeil clay
teapot created to look exactly like real birch wood with a bit of style
and attitude
ERIC SERRITELLA NAMED "NICHE AWARD" FINALIST

(Newfield, NY) Eric Serritella's Sassy Birch trompe l'oeil ceramic teapot
was recently named a finalist for a national 2009 NICHE Award,
in the "Ceramics - Wheel-thrown" category. Only 151 entries
were selected as finalists in various craft mediums from over 1,000 submissions.
The awards are sponsored by NICHE magazine.

MUSEUM ADDS A SECOND CERAMIC SCULPTURE BY ARTIST ERIC SERRITELLA

(Syracuse, NY) The Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, NY recently added
a second ceramic trompe l'oeil birch sculpture from Ithaca-area ceramic
artist Eric Serritella. The 22 inch tall piece, titled "Birch Bark
Vase", is hand-carved from stoneware to realistically mimic a real
tree. The piece was donated by a collector of Serritella's work.

TROMPE L'OEIL CERAMIC TEAPOT APPEARS IN CHINESE ART EXHIBITION

(Newfield, NY) Artist Eric Serritella recently had a piece on exhibition
at the "Jingdezhen Contemporary Ceramic Exhibition" at the Great
China Ceramic Museum, Jingdezhen, China. The piece will be added to The
Jingdezhen Sanbao Ceramic Arts Institute's permanent collection in China
at the end of the exhibition.

MUSEUM OF ART ACQUIRES WORK FROM TOMPKINS COUNTY ARTIST ERIC SERRITELLA

(Newfield, NY) The Everson Museum in Syracuse, NY recently purchased a
ceramic trompe l'oeil teapot from Ithaca-area ceramic artist Eric Serritella.
The 24 inch tall piece, titled "Swinging Birch", is hand-carved
from stoneware to resemble a birch tree. The figurative piece has the
feel of a woman dancing with spout and handle branches flowing like graceful
arms. It is one of two of pieces Serritella recently had included in the
2008 Everson Biennial. The piece was purchased with funds from the Howard
Kottler Testamentary Trust.

EXHIBITION OPENS AT THE JOHNSON MUSEUM AT CORNELL UNIVERSITY

(Ithaca, NY) Ceramic trompe l'oeil sculptor Serritella guest curated the
highly attended "Ithaca Ceramics" exhibition which recently
opened at Cornell University's Johnson Museum of Art. The exhibition showed
the work of 13 area ceramic artists who have excelled in the field. During
the exhibition almost 50 members of the community joined him in the creation
of a life-size birch stump created from clay and left to weather naturally
on the museum grounds.

LAUNCHES NEW WORK AND WINS AWARD AT THE 2008 SMITHSONIAN CRAFT SHOW

(Newfield, NY) Ceramic artist Eric Serritella introduced his new series
of trompe l'oeil ceramic sculptural birch teapots and vessels at the recent
2008 Smithsonian Craft Show held at the National Building Museum in Washington,
DC. The show honored outstanding work by master and emerging artists.
On the second day
of the show, exhibitors cast ballots to select three of their colleagues
for the Exhibitors' Choice Awards. The Bronze Award went to Serritella,
a first-time exhibitor.
"I was very pleased
with the response by collectors and was honored to have this new body
of work recognized and awarded by my peers", Serritella commented.

TROMPE L'OEIL CERAMIC TEAPOTS APPEAR IN NATIONAL INVITATIONAL

(Newfield, NY) Three ceramic trompe l'oeil sculptures from Ithaca-area
artist Eric Serritella appeared in the esteemed annual "Hot Tea"
Teapot invitational at del Mano Gallery in Los Angeles. Serritella's Sassy
Birch Teapot was purchased for the Kamm Teapot Foundation - the world's
largest teapot collection, with the other pieces being purchased by private
collectors.
